Course Overview: Diatonic harmony and voice leading continued. Seventh chords. Nonharmonic tones. Common chord modulation. Melody harmonization. Analysis of music literature.

  1. Recognize and compose various cadences, phrases, periods, and sentences.

  2. Label diverse non-chord tones and use them in their own composition properly.

  3. Identify, construct, and resolve diatonic/chromatic triads/seventh chords.

  4. Analyze a larger unit of Common Practice music literature from multiple angles, including melody, motivic development, harmony, and form.

  5. Engrave simple musical excerpts neatly using music notation software.

  6. Respect diverse genres/styles of music.
